VISTA Technology Services, Inc. (VISTA) is currently seeking a Technical Editor in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will be part of a highly professional, results-oriented company and will provide the following support:

Key Role:
Support U.S. Navy documentation process by providing formatting and editing expertise. Perform research tasks, including data collection, manipulation and presentation, literature search, and interviewing, and compile reference or statistical data into standard formats. Format documents and edit for grammar and most effective presentation of information. Accomplish a wide variety of assignments based on general directions with a minimum of supervision and guidance. Apply knowledge of military standards, standard research techniques, statistical analysis, and compilation of data, and select, analyze, and present data and information in oral, written, or graphics form. Update process guides, briefs, style guide, and templates designed to streamline documentation processes. Manage and prioritize challenging workload and meet tight deadlines for government and contractor customers. Make recommendations regarding format and content. Leverage expert knowledge of commonly used PC applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and databases and apply acquired job expertise and company policies and procedures to the completion of assigned tasks. Assist Data Manager in initiating SharePoint workflows for document review by the government. Work closely with authors and follow instructions on new assignments.

Basic Qualifications:
-2+ years of experience with technical writing and editing
-Experience with providing technical editing support for a military or DoD organization
-Expert knowledge of Microsoft tools and equivalent editing and publishing software
-Ability to manage multiple assignments and set priorities
-Ability to work on client site
-BA or BS degree from an accredited university or  equivalent work related experience and background.

Additional Qualifications:
-Knowledge of government document development processes and formats
-Possession of excellent work management skills, including managing work independently and setting priorities in collaboration with the client
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-Microsoft Office Specialist and Expert certifications/Society for Technical Communicators certification a plus

Required skills and Qualifications:

Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, VISTA will consider only applicants with Secret security clearances or applicants who are eligible for Secret security clearances.
