Description
VISTA Technology Services, Inc. (VISTA) is currently seeking a Computer Security Systems Manager to work in Beltsville, MD. The selected candidate will oversee the security of the computer systems and networks. This includes checking server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic, establishing and updating virus scans, and troubleshooting. They will manage and participate in overall security design. The Systems Manager will select, implement, and maintain firewalls and security patches, and will review and oversee the activities related to security alerts, bulletins and other security-related notifications. This position will also analyze and resolve security breaches and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and conduct user activity audits where required. This position is contingent upon contract award.

- Provides oversight of all information systems and web pages as per client site
- Analyze and present options to incorporate new technologies as developed and available
- Achieves system security operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews
- Oversees support for server room, including configurations and upgrades
- Designs and develops plans for deploying new features on website such as calendar, web streaming and video hosting, and mobile-device access
- Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards
- Resolves problems, completing audits, Identifying trends
- Determines system improvements and implements change when necessary
- Protects computer assets by developing security strategies; directing system control development and access management, monitoring, control, and evaluation
- Develops security awareness by directing the development of orientation and training programs; counseling clients
- Advises senior management by identifying critical security issues; recommending risk-reduction solutions
- Develops and maintains System Security Plans (SSP)
- Guide and direct work and efforts of a web developer and senior information engineer
- Maintain a prioritized IT spending plan
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer science or business administration with computer-related concentration, highly preferred or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree
- Library experience preferred
- Experience with Sirsi integrated library system required
- Direct experience with network and host-based firewalls, intrusion detection technologies and secure virtual private network solutions is required
