Description

VISTA Technology Services, Inc. (VISTA) is currently seeking Design Engineers (Levels II–IV) to support Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems, providing engineering and technical services across the full lifecycle of test site design, integration, and sustainment efforts. A hybrid work environment is authorized, with some required on-site support.

Overview

The Design Engineer will provide conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering design support for test site systems, facilities, and associated infrastructure, supporting research and development, testing, evaluation, and in-service engineering activities. This role requires participation across the entire engineering lifecycle, including:

  • Concept development
  • Engineering analysis and design
  • Installation and integration support
  • Test and evaluation
  • As-built verification and sustainment

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site investigations and facility assessments to evaluate existing utilities, infrastructure, and system capacity for proposed T&E programs
  • Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design packages, including:
    • Machinery and equipment arrangement concepts
    • Mechanical, electrical, fluid, and structural systems
    • Utilities interface requirements
  • Create and maintain computer-aided design (CAD) models (e.g., AutoCAD) to support:
    • Piping systems
    • Structural and rigging concepts
    • System integration and test site configuration
  • Conduct engineering analyses, including:
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
    • Mechanical, structural, and fluid systems analysis
    • System performance and integration studies
  • Modify and integrate existing facility and system designs to accommodate:
    • New or upgraded equipment
    • Mechanical, electrical, piping, and structural systems from multiple vendors
  • Develop comprehensive drawing packages for fabrication, installation, testing, and operation of systems and equipment
  • Support development of engineering documentation, including:
    • Design calculations and specifications
    • Material lists and long-lead procurement inputs
    • Technical reports and engineering analyses
  • Prepare and support design reviews and engineering milestones, including:
    • Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR)
    • Critical Design Reviews (CDR)
    • Integrated Test Readiness Reviews
  • Support installation, test, and evaluation activities, including:
    • On-site engineering support
    • Resolution of technical issues and RFIs
    • Verification of design implementation
  • Perform as-built validation and documentation updates to ensure configuration accuracy
  • Review all drawings and deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and provide Quality Assurance (QA) documentation

Basic Qualifications
Design Engineer II

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Design
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in mechanical, structural, or electrical/electronic design
  • Experience with CAD tools and engineering drawing development

Design Engineer III

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Design
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in mechanical, structural, or electrical/electronic design
  • Experience supporting multi-disciplinary system integration
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License preferred

Design Engineer IV

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Design
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mechanical, structural, or electrical/electronic design
  • Extensive experience leading design efforts and supporting complex engineering programs
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License required

Required Skills (All Levels)

  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD)
  • Experience with:
    • Mechanical, electrical, structural, and/or fluid system design
    • Engineering drawings and model development
  • Knowledge of:
    • Material specifications
    • Fabrication methods
    • Applicable safety, mechanical, electrical, and structural standards and codes
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment supporting HM&E systems
